9 Years, 4 months

What Team/Program(s) do you work for/on at Odyssey?

If you could switch your job with anyone else within Odyssey, whose job would you want and why?
There is truly no other job at Odyssey that I desire than the one I am in now. I transitioned from active duty Coast Guard at the location I am now, almost directly into this Spectrum Management job. This position is in the very office/Branch that I worked in when I was active duty. So, the transition was amazingly easy. Also, the location is perfect! All of my family (Mom & Dad, brother, etc.) live nearby as well.

What do you like most about working at Odyssey?
The Odyssey leadership fosters an outstanding and strong sense of belonging to a “family.” I truly feel valued at Odyssey. When a large part of the prime contract/task order I belong to was transitioning to a sister company, Odyssey and my direct supervisor bent over backwards to be able to keep me in their employ. That kind of loyalty to an employee is something that is never forgotten shows exceptional loyalty by Odyssey.

Before working at Odyssey, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Having been active duty Coast Guard for nearly 30 years prior to working for Odyssey, my most interesting job during that tenure was when I was the Telecommunications-Specialist-In-Charge (TCIC) onboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Legare, one of the Coast Guard’s 270’ medium endurance Cutters. While stationed aboard CGC Legare, I was fortunate enough to make the “European Patrol.” Our mission was “Partnerships for Peace” and we visited 22 different countries in a 4 and ½ month time frame. Exhausting, but exhilarating.

What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Fun, Caring, Sensitive

Any favorite line from a movie and/or favorite song?
“With great power comes great responsibility” Spider-man.

Do you have an office nickname? What is it?
“Freak” (As in “frequency Spectrum Manager”)

What do you like to do in your leisure/spare time?
In the summertime and warmer weather seasons, you can usually find my wife and I on the tennis court. During the winter months, we love to ski, so during those times we can be found shredding some trails down some ski slopes.

What did you want to be when growing up?
From the time I was 4 or 5 all the way through my High School years I wanted to be a Police Officer. However, I did not want to wait until I was 21 after graduating High School to attend the police academy. So, I accidentally made the best decision of my life to join the U.S. Coast Guard.

What would be the title of your autobiography?
“The Best Accidental Decision of My Life” – Then of course it would be about my 30 years of adventures in the Coast Guard.

Who would you want to play you in a movie?
My wife said to say Jake Gyllenhaal.

If you could have dinner with any ONE person (past or present) who would it be and why?
My grandfather who passed away years ago. We were very close when I was growing up. He was funny and wise, and I always had a great time with him.

Where would go on a dream vacation?
My wife and I take our dream vacation every single year. We travel to Colorado to ski Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, Copper Mountain, and Beaver Creek. Soon, we will venture to Utah and Vermont to start exploring some of their awesome ski resorts as well!

If you could switch your job with anyone else within Odyssey, whose job would you want and why:
That’s easy, my son James Petroskey. James is just in his first year with Odyssey, and works in the Wakefield office as a Business Development Analyst. My whole 35+ year career, including my time with Odyssey, has been supporting the customer on-site. As much as I have loved my work, I have often thought how great it would be to have an opportunity to experience the front end of capturing new business for the company, and celebrating the wins with the team.

What do you like most about working at Odyssey?
A couple of things come to mind: First, I do feel valued as an employee. I have a sense that if I bring something forward that matters to me, or my team, it will be heard and it will be acted on. Secondly, I have been fortunate to be surrounded by a team of very talented and solid individuals for many years. There are some folks on my team I have known before we were Odyssey employees and we have worked together for 20+ years. That seems like a rarity in today’s mobile work environment, but I see it as a real advantage and a gift to work with and be surrounded by an experienced set of experts on a daily basis.

Before working at Odyssey, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
In a prior job, I was assigned to a Foreign Military Sales program and led a team within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia performing system acceptance and sell-off activities throughout the country.

What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Hmmm, I’ll leave that one for others to describe…

I am an avid sports fan, also I enjoy playing any and all racquet sports, golf, and volleyball

What did you want to be when growing up?
Still working on that one…

What would be the title of your autobiography?
“I Could Tell you, But Then I’d Have To kill You”

Who would you want to play you in a movie?
George Clooney, of course (Haha)

If you could have dinner with any ONE person (past or present) who would it be and why?
I would be interested to dine with Elon Musk and hear his vision of how we will travel in the future.

Where would you go on a dream vacation?
Anywhere warm from January through March!
